The canon 500d definately had the standard kit lens which was the 18-55mm and the lens I used was my 14-42mm. Id hate to question the maths, but the experience of actually establishing the difference myself and with a collegue has gained my confident stand of ground. Does it help that I've mentioned that it's a canon 500d? Does that change anything? I don't know if there's anything that helps the theory. I do appreciated that you know what your talking about when it comes to comparisons of full frame, 4/3 sensors etc, however, from the experience, I can achieve a substantial and noticably wider coverage with the standard lens I use than the canon standard.
