I thought I'd use this to keep a log of some photos of Lancaster, relating to the weird time we are living in.

    Tumbleweed

    Tumbleweed1.JPG

Lancaster's main pedestrian thoroughfare, leading through the edge of the old market square. Always the busiest place in town.

This one sent a chill down my spine, for some reason.

You have captured the feeling of these strange times, a fine set. I do like the two b&w street scenes and the empty notice boards, they sum things up very well.

    Thanks Dave.
Those were shot in the middle of what would normally have been a really busy day in a relatively normal little English city. Strange indeed. More to follow, I'm sure.

Very poignant, Chris. That last ones sends chills down my spine as well. I was on the way into the Pharmacy/Chemist the other day and saw the same thing. Why on earth are they doing that? It is such a risk of spread. Common sense is all it takes !!!

A really interesting record of these strange times, Chris. The discarded mask is especially potent.

In a discussion the other day with some other photographers I said that we really should be documenting this in whatever small way we can, within the constraints placed upon us. It's quite important, I feel.

Another well obesrved set. The two figures have a feel of lonliness to them, moving images. I do like the Cherry blossom, a reminder that nature carries on as usual without us.

I concur with Pete. Again very poignant. I agree it all needs some sort of preservation.

    Thanks for the comments, all.
Dave, that realistion that nature just gets on with it is something I have been feeling strongly of late.
People wax lyrical about the colours of autumn but I have always found it a rather depressing time to see the countryside shutting down for the end of the season and after working for my entire career in the field of forestry and woodland management with woodland creation as my particular specialism, I have never been so eager to see the buds bursting out as I have this year.

Back from buds bursting out to the subject of bugs bursting out.
A bit of gallows humour from picking up my wife from work at the hospital yesterday.

As a gardener, I understand what you are saying. With human affairs so difficult, everything so strange and disturbing, the fact that Mother Nature is just going about Her year as normal is a great comfort, the one thing that is keeping me sane.
In normal times I do like autumn. Using the day/year analogy, autumn is like the evening. Time to relax and put your feet up after the spring/summer work is done. This year, as you say, to see thing bursting into life is just wonderful.

I have been neglecting my promise to keep a record in this thread. I've been taking photos but forgetting that there's a place for them here. So, to address that, here are a few more...

3 more fine images of the times. I do like the first one, Eric is long gone now but still fondly remembered.
