Diesel on my truck, Petrol in the garage

Diesel is black and white, Petrol is his grey brother and Mono is their grey one-eyed mother. Mono and Petrol are very close in appearance, eye notwithstanding, especially now that Petrol left his two ... identifying characteristics ... at the vet's office, alas.

Diesel on my truck, Petrol in the garage

No, really. It's a gasoline-powered truck, but there's Diesel on it! My daughter has adopted two outside / stray kitties, twin brothers, born under the deck by her apartment. She's also adopted the mother, who lost an eye and is now known as Mono, but that's another story. The two brothers are...

    Wish me well...

Rob, you are in my thoughts and I hope for a positive outcome, to say the least. And although many will differ on this, for me personally being a Christian you are also in my prayers.

Just now I'm seeing a mother whale and calf viewed from above...

    Look To The Stars

That does have the look of a B&W film photo of some distant and very faint galaxy in the background. Interesting...

    Fort Casey

Tangential to the topic, but Whidbey... wasn't that the codename for a Windows release years ago? Maybe Vista before it became Vista?

    Pastel to blue

A pastel sunset over Lake Buhlow in central Louisiana slides into blue hour as the lights come on at a small general aviation airport on the far shore. I hoped something would happen but the sunset was relatively uneventful. Good thing this was a long exposure -- Otherwise the swarming bugs...

More local stuff (and it's green!)

Actually I agree with you but ended up with the long exposed water anyway. I think something more subtle in the middle might work best. There was a fair amount of wind so that was shot at ISO 800 and 1/250 IIRC. As a result the water had a lot of surface detail which was distracting. Truth is...

More local stuff (and it's green!)

April is starting to remind us that May is soon arriving, which prepares us for June and the rest of summer (until late October). It's still nice, but getting warmer and definitely more humid. This morning was broken overcast with fleeting sunlight. I took a drive to a local wildlife management...

An ordinary lake on an ordinary day

The interesting thing is I always get infinitely more from someone else's everyday elements than my own. I'm just everyday-ed out, I guess...

An ordinary lake on an ordinary day

Thanks! And a good thing, at that -- Since there's very little to do there! :) LOL Actually it's not a bad place, just a tiny little man-made lake with pine trees down to the edge in most places. That's kind of what makes it challenging photographically, at least for me. There are caravan /...

An ordinary lake on an ordinary day

Tired of sitting inside, I drove to a small local lake this afternoon. Although we have about a week left in April, there are signs of heading toward summer already. This was all I came away with, pedestrian as it is. A two-shot blend in order to keep the highlights under control in the harsh...

Drain at the end of the world (or is it a polar vortex?)

The "hole" of the vortex appeared to be about half a meter in diameter (maybe a little more) but I'm not sure about the depth of the water. I guess maybe 3 meters or so? Actually it might be more than that since it's directly in the channel next to the entrance gate. But the average depth...

Drain at the end of the world (or is it a polar vortex?)

If so, I'm staying away from them...! :p

Drain at the end of the world (or is it a polar vortex?)

Thanks -- Here's a quick snap without the long exposure: It's the inlet for a small stream that feeds a small lake. I pretty much had to abstract it, since there was no good composition otherwise. The far bank was too distant and I couldn't get much closer due to the water level. Here it is...
