We only get about 45 minutes of sunlight after I get off work. On the other hand it's not over 100 degrees.... The dogs are happy. I only can take about 4-5 pictures before I have to put the camera up. :)

Loving the low point of view on the first one especially, very nice Steve

I broke down and bought Photoshop this week. BandH had a deal on it with Lightroom 4 which I already have. I normally get an Educator's Discount because I work for a college so I already had Lightroom 4. The total for both was $399. $400 is a lot cheaper than what I would get Photoshop for with my Educator's Discount. Of course now I have to get a manual. Do you have any suggestions? My understanding is it's a bit of steeper learning curve. I'm going to start using the X Pro in RAW + JPEG. I got kind of worried reading DPR review about RAW files from the camera but after a while I realized it was basically the same 4 or 5 people starting multiple threads. I've just stopped going to that forum. It was really depressing since I love the X Pro so much.

It sounds as though you are in the same position I was last year. I finally had to admit defeat with banding in the sky and needed to move up to 16 bit. My husband bought me a book by Martin Evening (Adobe Photoshop CS5 for Photographers) and I waded through it during our Christmas break. I'll admit to missing a couple of chapters and some paragraphs were beyond me, but I found some useful information and made some presets on his advice - like settings for RAW processing. I finally came up with my own non-destructive work flow, although the files are massive. (Probably why our computer has been falling over recently...)

I'm afraid I know nothing about your camera or LR :)

Steve - I've been thinking of doing a WebEx on processing X-Pro1 RAW files into Photoshop, and maybe recording it for posting online.

If you're up for it - we could do a live webex together, and I can show you through my process from RAW to Photoshop - would be a start, and easier than reading a manual.

If I could record that - others can then view later on YouTube.

Can also show you some additional tools, such as NIK.

Let me know, and we can schedule as soon as you have Photoshop installed, and a spare hour or two :)

If anyone else wants to join a WebEx they're welcome - folks from outside US might have to get creative with the telephone piece to avoid call charges - we could always use Skype for the audio portion to do it for free.

That would be fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd put you in my will but I Ruby used up all my money at the vet this year.

I also have the full NIK suite (although I usually only use Silver EFX and then only the presets...please don't laugh at me..)

I'm going to install it tonight after I get back from the dog hike. We work half days on Friday so I'm headed out there about 1 PM. Of course I usually go by Louis Mueller's BBQ first so I need the extra mileage to walk off the food. :)
