Hand-held moon shot with the new 300/4

Gary, apologies for the late reply, nearly non-stop travelling for 7 of the last 10 days. Understood - it can be daunting to tackle the software but if you use robotic scopes they geneally have video guides. Or if you use your current camera and photo tripod with short exposures, stacking images...

Hand-held moon shot with the new 300/4

There is an alternative. You can use $200,000 worth of professional equipment now for very modest rental fees - search for robotic telescopes on Google. The better ones have online free courses in image processing, and writing instructions for your intended target is easy. See my post on the...

    Shadow and Light

The more I look at it the more I realise how exceptional this image is - two opposing conficting parts, each would make interesting images on their own but together it presents conflict and tension. Well done Rob!

    Shadow and Light

Like you I find the shadow of the plant particularly interesting - somewhat demonic enhanced by the fact that the left and right sides are totally different images and vibes. Also like you I played with different crops but in the end prefer the entire image as it is. Very interesting, light...

    Next generation

I remember my parents and grandparents worrying about my generation - but I think they were right to some extent. We take time to grow up and put logic before emotion (indeed if we can ever manage it). A nice shot and interpretation, but I worry about them and their children having to handle the...

    Strictly For The Birds

Hard to add to comments already made. I particularly like the use of a black background in many of the shots - hard to arrange naturally on a sunny day with reflective foliage or water in the background. Digitally manipulated or created? Incidentally "Wood duck" aka "Peking duck"? Excellent...

    Critique Welcomed Evolvement

I've seen a sky that colour - in Tokyo. Not local pollution but sand blown across from the Gobi desert (something that happens regularly though not to the extent of the colour in the photo - that was a rare event).

    Love is the air (perhaps)

No, they are just checking the latest electricity bill on her phone. Great shot though!

    Critique Welcomed Evolvement

It certainly beats boring, well done ! Though many similarly processed images could indeed become boring unless there's a tight philosophy holding the images together.

    A remarkably good job!

    The Framer

"he hates this photo" I guess nobody likes to be confronted by the truth about themselves.

    Critique Welcomed Ship of Theseus

I love the subject matter - the same type of dilapidated collapsing homes, barns and sheds exist here in Hokkaido, despite the Japanese penchant for keeping everything neat, tidy and characterless.

    Black and White

You hit all the nails on the head here! Yes my images won't attach normally. In order to get under 1mb I need to compress the scanned image to about 10%, which causes horrible artefacts to the extent that I decide not to publish most. The building is the local viewpoint, and houses a water...

Yourself as a child - please contribute.

Lots of memories from around then, before and for a long time after, mostly not good. Fortunately my children have grown up in a (reasonably) pleasant atmosphere and are well balance adults. Unlike me ;)
