Really interesting and unusual shot - it takes a while to work out what it is.

Surprisingly grainy compared to APX100. I've never tried the 400 - are they all this gritty or was this down to dev combination?

200 and 400:1 both worked well. I normally do 100:1 but given the problems you had with high dilution my guess is a very weak one might be better.

No idea but I suggest trying Rodinal 200:1, 2hr stand dev., 20 inversions at the start 16-20deg. Blame me if it all goes wrong.

I've heard the phase but can't remember the explanation. I think what you need for unknown film is indeed a compensating developer. I recommend Agfa Rodinal diluted 200:1, stand developed for two hours, 20 inversions at the start and a single inversion after an hour. Plain water stop, fix, wash...

In camera A7Riii jpg, no adjustment in post. I exposed based on the mid sky reading without adjustment. Generally for both film and digital I prefer to do only minimal adjustment to what is recorded.

Indeed, impressive. I have to admit to never having tried caffenol though I've concocted many other brews. Maybe I should give it a try...
