    New film simulation software

Tony, that's a bunch of thoughts in only a few lines! My understanding of the project being discussed on pixls.us is that the project is attempting to model in detail what goes on with film, with the intent of bringing what people love about film to digital photos. I believe the project is free...

    New film simulation software

I am not referring to the command dials, but rather the dedicated dials on the top of the body. For instance, on your X-T5, you have (from left to right) ISO, shutter speed and exposure compensation. On my X-T20, I have drive mode, shutter speed and exposure compensation. Some new models such...

    New film simulation software

I believe that Fuji's film simulations are only used if you shoot JPEG. If you shoot raw, all you get is a bit of EXIF info saying what film sim was set in camera. It is possible for software to pick up that EXIF info and then "simulate the simulation". The software being discussed on pixls.us...

The 50 Greatest Cameras of All Time

Given that there was a period of time that it was de rigeur to put a disposable camera on every table at a wedding reception, there had to have been a lot of disposables sold. But it's not really fair to aggregate across brands...that's sort of like saying "where does the DSLR fit?"

The 50 Greatest Cameras of All Time

They and I are idiots. Me for looking at the top left and bottom right of the table and seeing 1...50, and they for not numbering their list of 100 from 1 to 100. Me too. There's a lot of goodness in current gear.

The 50 Greatest Cameras of All Time

Agreed...and a quick search found this one, which is only a few weeks old: https://amateurphotographer.com/round-ups/100-greatest-cameras-of-all-time/ It promises a list of 100, but only provides 50. 🤷‍♂️

The 50 Greatest Cameras of All Time

☑️ None of the above. I was reading the list with some puzzlement that no cameras from the last 15 years were on the list...then I hovered the link and saw it was from 2010.

    Is "print quality" important anymore?

This is a very interesting thread, even for someone like me, for whom the next photo I print will be the first photo I print. I intend to get to that point at some time, but even as I improve I am constantly finding new ways that my images are not good enough to commit to paper. The goalposts...

    film v. digital

I'm in the same boat as Gianluca (100% digital and not on 35mmc). To be honest, if the forum showed a strong bias against digital, I'd show myself the door. But it hasn't. It's been totally accepting. I joined at the start of 2024, and it already seemed quiet. I'm not sure the activity level has...
