    Two new lens

Yes I remember well. There was an Amateur Photographer article by John Bentley about my darkroom as part of the Ilford local darkroom scheme around the same time. I seem to remember you bought a Linhof outfit around that time, well just after. It may have been one I nearly bought off the...

    Two new lens

Yes the darkroom has been up and running for a few years now. Needs de-cluttering, not sure I need five enlargers . . . . . . no make that eight :D I have rather a lot of photographic paper. I just bought 4 unopened boxes of 50 sheet 20x16 Kodak Polyfiber, 2 50 sheet boxes 20x16 Kodak, Elite...

Black and White Paper Reversal Results

Amazing tonality, he was using graded Ilfobrom papers, and the reversal process with fibre based papers is very time consuming, compared to films and RC papers. Long wash times between steps. Ian

    Two new lens

Last year I bought a couple of lenses. One is 1 17½£ Taylor, Taylor, & Hobson f8 Rapid Rectilinear lens that is marked 12"x10", great as I have a camera that format. I haggled on price and got a bargain. The seller said will you take this one for £30, I said no it's disgustingly dirty. I decided...

Black and White Paper Reversal Results

Back around 1973/4 I went to a talk at my Student Union photographic society, on Reversal processing. The talk was given by a research student at Birmingham School of Photography, he was sponsored by Kodak. Essentially he was shooting FP4 and PanF reversal processed, then making reversal...

    Based on a photo...

Georgia O'Keefe is one on my favourite artists with great links to Photography through her husband and also Ansel Adams who she accompanied at times on his trips. I've seen quite a bit of her work but not this particular exhibition. Ian

Still have questions re shooting film

You're actually doing the opposite of cheating, your doing what Ansel Adams and Minor White advocate with the Zone System, meter for the shadows to set exposure and then highlights to optimise development time With XP2 or Colour negarive films metering for the shadows and placing them where you...

Still have questions re shooting film

Colour negative film is different you might drop the EI to 125 but that'll be enough. At some stage it's worth looking at using a separate hand held meter, it's far more accurate once you know what you are doing. I may come and show you !!!! I may be up your way soon as one of my nieces...

Still have questions re shooting film

The lower ther ISO with XP2 the finer the grain and wwhile it does have latitude shooting at 800EIwould be far worse with that second shot. I used a lot of XP1 then XP2 but I was usually push processing it to 1200/3200 something Ilford left off the data sheets when they released XP2 as most labs...

    One System or Two?

I don't, I'm just buying a 2nd MPP - a MkVII. These are essentially British made Linhofs :D Now I need to do some more repairs to pay for it. Luckily I acquired quite a lot of LF film for free quite recently. Nice test shot Milan. Ian

    One System or Two?

One , two or three taht's minimal compared to my issues :D But then I mostly shoot LF, but I have Linhof/Wista, Pacemaker & Super Graphic, older Graflexes, MPP, Seneneca (two different sizes,, Agfa Ansco. And then Pentax M42 & K but easily adapted to CAnon Eos mount. Luckily I can make...

Looking for a camera bag that fits under an airline seat

Standard small backpack Brian, it has three separate areas inside, a back pocket perfect for the iPad and two others. I wrap the LF camera in it's darkcloth the rest in plastic bags or other wraps, so much simpler than a specialist photo backpack ack far more incospicuous. Ian

Looking for a camera bag that fits under an airline seat

For the past 30+ years I've usually just used normal backpacks to carry my equipmwent, I do have a large photobackpack but prefer to travel lighter most of the time. Typically I might be carrying a 5x4 Super Graphic and 3 lenses, a Gaoersi 6x17 camer, a Yashicamat 124 and a Canon 50D and...
