Bright, hot, hazy August summer afternoon -- What to shoot?

Yeah, I upload the same file to both places. Thanks!

Bright, hot, hazy August summer afternoon -- What to shoot?

Thanks! During the day the mosquitoes weren't a problem (the heat and humidity were!) but I was shooting from a gravel road atop a levee so there was no foliage really close. I'm sure about twilight it gets really bad, given the low, still and often stagnant water.

It's actually the same file uploaded both places but apparently Flickr shows it larger than here. Nature of the beast with elongated aspect ratios I guess.

Bright, hot, hazy August summer afternoon -- What to shoot?

How about a low lake in a wildlife refuge under "bad" light, then turn it almost into winter? At least that's the vibe I get now. I'm not usually a fan of ultra-wide strip panoramas beyond the intrinsic fascination with detail. But it kinda seems to work here. This is "Little Lake", which I...

YASOW (yet another sunset over water)

The interesting part (isn't it always) was that when I arrived I really didn't see a composition, but since the shot was quickly going away I just did the best I could and kept pressing the shutter button. I've been to that place many, many times over the years (also for astronomy) and really...

YASOW (yet another sunset over water)

We had some late afternoon thunderstorms yesterday but they were ending around sunset so I quickly decided to head to a local flood-control canal / lake. Not too much available there compositionally, but it's all I have. I like the sun in the slot between cloud and sky. There were a few frames...

Capture those bright greens before they're gone...

Sorry for the late reply -- I'm away from home and my Internet activity has been somewhat reduced (probably not a bad thing!). To answer your question, yes and no. This early in the season there are definitely mosquitoes but they're nowhere near as numerous as they'll become as it continues to...

From the shore. I don't own nor do I rent a boat. Some of those (first three) were from a low bridge.

Capture those bright greens before they're gone...

It's only mid-April but already the Louisiana daytime highs are in the upper 80s F (lower 30s C) so it's not long until the bright spring greens dull to darker summer hues. So yesterday I took an hour drive down to Chicot State Park, south of me. Until today (of course) it's been bluebird skies...

    Art Methodist Church

I've not fallen off the edge of the Earth, it's just been a dull autumn, grey winter and late spring here for us. And that means virtually no subject matter. But last week my wife and I took a few days to just relax in the Texas Hill Country around Mason, Texas (about 100 miles west of Austin)...

    Desperation abstraction

I don't have a larger scale shot (all close up) but I've since learned they are hackberry trees and this is a normal thing with them. That's how their bark grows. Thanks!

    Sogni = Dreams

For some reason* the third color image really evoked a half-forgotten but strong memory of some of the album artwork from "Tommy" by The Who. I don't have the album (anymore) and I can't find the image online. But I seem to recall there are two illustrations of a building (possibly an amusement...

Found this at a flea market

Everything appears to work properly, although the film type "reminder" disc is a bit stiff to turn. I'm guessing this one was manufactured for export as the distance scale on the lens is in feet, not meters. There's a label inside the film well: A little easier to read in altered monochrome...
