    Boo

We recently celebrated a birthday in the family at a beachside eating establishment. This is a capture of my little nephew having a peek-a-boo from behind his dark glasses.

    A Day at the Show

Thanks Pete and Brodie. Brodie: I don't mind the Shows. Very sorry to hear about that horror which happened in your home town the other day. I also have cousins there too. I originally came from the Grafton area.

    A Day at the Show

Yes, Chris. I am not sure whether you know about the Agricultural Shows here in OZ. All towns have a show once per year where the country comes to the city - so to speak. They display their produce, participate in rodeo style of events (not as big as the normal rodeos), show their catlle...

    A Day at the Show

Thanks for the comments. They were not far from the animal section of the show casually walking along one of the lanes. I used my 70-300 at a distance. Luckily there weren't that many people at the time. The mobile phone - all the young ones have them hanging out of their ears. Modern times...

    A Day at the Show

I spent a day at the Canberra Show. Took quite a few photographs. This is a capture of a 'street' with a couple of youngsters. Oh to be young again.

    Canberra, Australia - Enlighten

Peter, FastStone is a simple free software available on the 'net. I generally view my takes in it and do minor adjustments. If I need to go a little further I use PhotoPlus x4. Probably not as good as the Adobe products but suits my budget.

    Canberra, Australia - Enlighten

I have straightened the image however, there is some distortion because the bottom is wonky and the top is straight. For some reason a thumbnail view now appears which is the uncorrected version. For minor and quick PP I use Fastone.

    Canberra, Australia - Enlighten

Thanks Pete for your comment. I am on a learning curve with the DSLR. Yes, the parl House has a very slight slope. At the bottom it is slight however at the top it appears more so. I did try and straighten using the bottom as the guide - perhaps I should have taken it from the top.

    Canberra, Australia - Enlighten

Hi Peter, this is another view at 18mm. Here, the has changed to another scene. And another of the Old Parliament House. The 2 black objects in the foreground are the projection units.

    Canberra, Australia - Enlighten

Every March Canberra has the Enlighten Show. Four to five promenent buildings are lit up by giant projectors which produce a slide show of images that represent the particular building. There plenty of photographers with their tripods almost shoulder to shoulder at one of the buildings...

    A few more from Sydney

Manly Beach is quite long. In Australia you are requested to swim between the 'flags' (flag on a pole positioned approx 100 metres apart) which is supposed to be the safest area to swim and it is where the beach patrols are stationed. In this photograph, it would appear the area is unsafe for...
