And who's doing the work again?

What really makes this shot is the tilt angle. It matches perfectly with the subjects, especially the guy pushing the cart. Great stuff.

Thanks for the comments, Pete. Yeah, the cowboy turned out to be a really nice guy. After he spotted me taking his photo, I walked over and chatted with him for a bit. I later sent him a copy of the photo by email.

    Ricoh GR (Digital V) announced

Hamish, I ordered it from B&H in New York City and there is no indication on when it will arrive, as the orders being placed are on a first-come-first serve basis. Also, in my experience in these types of things, delivery dates as promised by the suppliers are usually not that reliable. So, we...

    Ricoh GR (Digital V) announced

I have pre-ordered it. I used a Ricoh GRDII for a specific project that lasted about a year. It was a superb camera, probably one of the best street shooting cameras I have ever owned. I sold the camera after I completed the project and have regretted it ever since. I came close to buying...

    Hopper Meditations Blog

Thank you so much for this link. Outstanding work. I am a big fan of Hopper's paintings. In fact, as I am typing this, I am looking at a huge framed reproduction of Hopper's Office at Night, which is hanging in my office.

Thanks for all the comments. The 2nd photo was shot at the White Elephant Saloon- a bar in Fort Worth, Texas that is over 100 years old and is reputed to be the site of the last great gunfight in the West, back in the early 1900's. It is a great place and I stop there often when I am in town...

Have been away for a while. I have been busy with personal crap. Everyone knows how it goes. Here are some some recent random shots. I will be in New Orleans in about three weeks. Can't wait for a bit of street shooting there. Cowboy - Hico, Texas

Dirty Dozen - Best of 2012

You nailed it, Rob. Most Americans are, indeed, nuts. We may be crazy, but fortunately, for the most part, we are harmless.....;) Thanks for the comments. - - - Updated - - - An excellent series of photos, Julian. Every image stands out but the shot of the bicycle rider in Plymouth is...

Dirty Dozen - Best of 2012

What a cool thread. Dave and Glen, I envy your talent and vision. Both of you featured excellent work. I have never really put much thought into my best shots of the year, so thanks Dave for the idea. Here are a few of mine from this past year. I am not sure if they are the best, but they...

    B&W Collection

That was simply an outstanding collection. I viewed them all. I really liked the double exposure? and motion blur? shots. Not quite sure how you did them, but they are excellent. You are just at home taking provocative nature and still life shots as you are hitting the streets for unusual...

    Streets

Thanks KK, Chris, Pete, and Ahmad for the comments. Pete, trying to match the photos with the different elements of the ambient city sounds was a bit more difficult than I first imagined. Also, I am having a bit of difficulty with the quality of the soundtrack. I went out the other day and...

I'm sorry. I meant to put that in there and forgot.[doh] My main camera is now the GX-1, with the GF1 serving as a backup or a second camera if I need two cameras on a shoot. The lens I use most often for street work is the 20mm 1.7. However, I am using the Olympus 12-50 zoom more and more.

    Streets

Thank you for the very kind words about my work. When I first went digital, my first priority was being able to make good B&W prints from my digital files. All of my personal work, prior to going digital, was on B&W film. I knew that digital B&W looked different from film B&W, so I did not...
