I agree 100% Hamish, I love places like that and that is why I always seem to be seeking them out. I was born in Namibia so maybe it is in me? Anyway, would love to spend a year or so in Alaska, "off the beaten track"..... As far as isolated places go I have been to a few, including 28 months...
