    Miniature Disaster

This... is the inside of a failed LED downlight bulb. Each of the yellow 'chips' is a surface mount LED, about 3mm across, and the one in the middle... has failed! Olympus EM5ii, reverse mounted Pentax 18-55mm lens.

    Be upright

For some reason I love the arrows on the pole - they make the image somehow.

    Near disaster...

Lovely images. Sorry to hear about your PC! Have you looked at Darktable at all? Free and very powerful but requires a steep initial learning curve in some ways.

Misty Morning on the River Chew

Hello all! I know it's been a long time since I've been active on this site - life has been exhausting! Both very good things (getting married!) and not so good (mental health problems). I've been lurking from time to time and have eventually been motivated to actually post something (thanks...

    New film simulation software

Andrea over on discuss.pixls.us has recently published an experimental film simulation program which is pretty much unique as far as I know in that it actually simulated in software the complete chemical and physical processes in the film development and printing process, unlike all the others...

The purple of failing street lights.

That kind of light (many intentionally blue LED lights i.e. party and stage lighting) is a well known problem and almost a test case in certain image processing circles... On digital it basically drives the blue pixels into hard saturation, then depending on the colour space in use you get...

    Walking near Langridge, Bath

Thanks for the warm welcome back everyone! It's lovely to be here. Ralph, yep, all's well apart from the cold (now nearly gone). Currently in London for the weekend, staying with some family. Only my second time in London 🫣 its big!

    Walking near Langridge, Bath

Hi all! After another absence, back briefly. Been struggling with a nasty cold and took a day off work to de-stress a bit. Got in a lovely if chilly walk near Bath around the village of Langridge. Clearly I'm feeling monochromatic ;) All pics from my Oly EM5ii and 14-150mm, processed in Darktable.

    Critique Welcomed Horse silhouette

Thanks Rob! That's a pretty good reply right there 😉. And point taken, although I do enjoy getting critique even if I don't always take it on board... Hm. There's a conundrum!

I like my blobs! 😁:p But no, seriously, thanks for the feedback! It was a pretty spur of the moment shot that I probably should have spent a bit more time on. I don't think the crop really works for me as it makes the tree rather too prominent. Good point, thanks! I can't unsee it now... You...

Critique Welcomed Moonlight Walk in Wambrook

Ha! You are too kind... ;) Is it? ;) I don't know the Northern constellations much. Even less than the Southern ones... And no, not the pub, just a nice house on the walk back. Could be the pub though, in looks. Thanks!

Ha, yes, and a phone at 1/4sec, f1.9 and ISO 12800 if the metadata is correct. ;) Thanks :) Isn't there?!

Critique Welcomed Moonlight Walk in Wambrook

I'm not much of a pub goer really, but on this particular evening I went for a run and found myself outside the local pub. ;) Heading home after a pint (of Thatchers Zero ;) ) it was a lovely moonlit evening which tempted me into trying to capture it on my phone camera. As always, I'm quite...
