derwent dam

This is the dam that the RAF (Squadron 617) used in 1943 to practice/develop their bombing skills for the "Bouncing Bomb" (there was also a movie made about the operation - "The Dam Busters", 1955). The RAF still uses this area for low level runs, but not when I was visiting.

Some sheep that I came across in the pasture around Derwent Dam. This one was very curious about the stranger in the pasture and came up to within a few feet of me. Most of the sheep moved away if I moved in too close.
