The Cardiff Bay Arts Trust (CBAT), now known as Safle, commissioned Swiss artist Felice Varini to produce piece of public art for the CHA, entitled 3 Ellipses for 3 Locks. It cost £25,000 and was produced between 11 and 25 March 2007. Three yellow ellipses were painted onto locks and gates, with professional mountain climbers being used to access the barrage's more difficult sections. It was Varini's first work in Wales and the UK and took a year to plan

this is just one entry point into the bay from the sea, there are 3 of these lock systems. all next to each other to the right of this photo.

when you approach you see all the big of walls, fences, lock gates, floor ect all with a yellow stripe, when you get to this position you notice they all join up to make this awesome pattern. really is strange to see as it is huge.

the 2 other locks to the right don't have this pattern on them.

i would love to take this photo on a much nicer day or maybe with a boat coming through this lock
