A Few From Yellowstone

Here's a few quick pics from our trip to Yellowstone National Park. I'll try to post a few more soon.

The 1956 built Bombardier snow coach that took us from West Yellostone to the Old Faithful Snow lodge.

The Firehole River is warmed by the runnoff from hot springs and geysers so it never freezes.

The classic view of the Old Faithful Geyser. It erupts about every 90 minutes.

Wondeful set, Ralph. What a delightful vehicle, that Bombardier. (A perfect jalopy for @Dan Cattermole to convey himself around the streets of Worcester in I think.:))

It's lovely to see the bison.

What about Old Faithfull? I visited Yellowstone and saw OF erupt when I was a kid. I didn't realize it was on a 90 minute cycle--I thought it was about 20 or 30 mins. Was I wrong or has the cycle changed over the years?

Nice set Ralph and what a wonderful vehicle. I'm seeing a slight blue cast on number 2-4 on my monitor though.
I see the blue cast also. Probably cause I didn't correct white balance in the shaded areas.

The Old Faithful timing has changed some over the years but I never heard of it being as short as 20-30 minutes. I think 75 minutes was normal before the big earthquake in the 50s.

While Old Faithful is pretty regular it does vary. The Park Service offers predictions for Old Faithful and they always say a time plus or minus 10 minutes. But one eruption that we saw was over 15 minutes later than predicted.

I think it was correct for Pete to point that out. The elevation is around 7,000 ft and in the shadows it's easy to get the white balance messed up when shooting snow. Should have been corrected in post but I was in a hurry I guess. I'm serving my 5 days in White Balance Jail and will be out soon.:(
