Spotted on the neighboring table at Stones Brewery Restaurant in San Marcos - Everyone thought I'd gone crazy taking pictures of an empty table :p

X-Pro1 and 35mm Lens - f/2

The out of focus areas on that lens are really beautiful. Are you finding the camera better with the new firmware? I think it's improved but I can quantify it.

I particularly like the composition and colors on this photo. The colors are like a painting. (Of course if it has a woman in a roller skating in a bikini it might have been better.......)

Thanks Steve, sorry no bikini clad ladies anywhere to be seen :(

The 35mm lens does offer super smooth bokeh - and the firmware updates seem to have made all 3 lenses snappier to focus.

I spotted the colors in the drinks and the light from the window, and this is what attracted me to the scene in the first instance - when the people at that table left, I leapt in to grab the shot.

I'm finding that with practice I can see in my mind how the depth of field is going to look before I fire up the camera - it's probably just a case of shooting many many shots and building a mental model of how it works in-camera.

I rested the camera on the end of the table to ensure it was steady, and snapped off about 6 frames with various apertures to ensure I got what I wanted.

My granddaughter was very puzzled - but she's pretty used to me always having a camera pointed at something! :D

Good one Chris it is the colours in the glass that do it for me. But of course they would not be what they are without everything else.

Thanks everyone - will continue on my crazy path :D

I wish you would not do that, Chris! That is NOT what I expected when I read "long cold one!" :p

(Nice fotie, though.)

Ooooo err Brian - I always try to tease with my titles - Matron... :D
