Aren't trees amazing? As a student of forestry management doing my industrial experience, I once felled a big Oak tree and the wood above and below the cut was gnarly and twisted but there was a curiously symmetrical oval shape within it. The grain of the wood within the shape was different to that around it and it transpired that I had sawn through the stock of a musket which must have been placed in what presumably had been a low fork in the stem of the tree when it was very much younger.
As I say, trees are amazimg!
