a way through the marsh

after trying this at the weekend I bow to you as the queen :D

thanks davie. keep trying, it's not too difficult if i can do it. a tripod is needed and cable release if you have one. i don't have one for the x-t1 yet.. i read once that if you take 500 and divide it by the focal length you'll get the slowest shutter speed you can use without getting movement in the stars. i have no idea if that's true, but it seems to work for me. i was shooting at 24mm so using beth math i figured 500/25mm came up with 20 seconds. i set the aperture to maximum (f/4 with the 10-24mm) and focused manually to infinity. iso 3200, i start around iso 1600 and turned it up slowly until i hit 3200, which was after scaring away some local wildlife by releasing a stream of curses and venom. save yourself some cursing and start at 3200.

in lightroom i usually have to up the clarity using brushes to bring out the stars.

here's one i did last autumn with the 18mm f/2.8 @ 20s, f/2.8 and iso 3200
