A Windswept Land

Here is the complete current sequence. Not entirely sure about the order at the moment and will probably shuffle them around on http://www.babelsberg-studio.com at some point. Will probably add some older shots too later on.

Nice set Pete. I'm a little concerned though that if it is indeed a windswept place, why are the trees all standing so straight?

good old German engineering! nice set Pete these are going to look great printed!

Great set Pete my fav is still the Woods followed by the tree lined road

Good stuff and again that shot of the trees is really great, it does stand out on its own from the rest a little bit though. I really like the grainy vignette that you have on some of the skys. It really transforms a pretty much empty sky and give it a nice depth.

That first one is a beauty!
really pulled it out the bag with this lot pete ... i like them a lot!

number three, i think is a miss ... But the rest are really nice!

Lovely set, Pete. It takes a good eye to spot a picture in some of those, but your compositional sense trumps even your eye.

Ooh, I can't decide which one is my fav.
I do like them all.

The last two are my favs. Nice toning - simple - and great compositions. You should take up photography seriously, Pete. I think you could be quite good at it ;)

Pete, these are very nice. I like the 5th, 10th, 11th (favorite) most. :)

Thanks Nihat. Number 10 is a favourite of mine also and I have shot these scene several times now. The last time was on 120 film but I am planning to shoot it again on 5x4, maybe this April if the weather is kind to me. I also like the football pitch as this informs me about this small village. And I deliberately made the woods appear slightly mysterious as they are the only relief from the open countryside and you go suddenly from open, exposed land to a dense, tall treed wood.

Although I did not grow up in this place (Ina did), I find it, and the house, very evocative and a great source of inspiration.

Loving 10 and 11 - the plowed furrow and the way it changes the color of the soil in #11 especially

These remind me of that 70s BBC TV series about the French Resistance in WWII - Secret Army

The opening credits had stills of roads crossing a European landscape as I remember

Here we go:

i keep coming back to look at these. all of the images are strong enough to stand on their own, but fit in well together.

couple of my favorites:
5 - love the road.
6 - great lighting, adds a lot of mystery to the image.
10 - wonderful comp., probably my favorite of the bunch.
11 - love the leading lines from the field.
12 - nice repetition in the trees going down the road
