Now I will tell you why I like this photo. In the 1950s and 1960s, some popular science books had photos like mine (in black and white, of course). A beautiful one I remember, from an American publication about atomic energy, showed a scientist in a white coat intent on peering at a grasshopper through a magnifying glass. His eye was huge because of the magnifying glass, like in a Mel Brooks film. My photo obviously does not measure up to that one, with which it has little in common, but it reminded me of the scientific communication at that time.
