The distortion catches my eye, not quite sure if I like it or not.

This plays games with my eyesight. I like the way the distortion leads the eye through the image. The Minarets having no visible base makes it look like they are about to collapse. Great job on exposing the shadows.

Is it my eyes or is it an illusion that the image is slightly tilted?

The colors are gorgeous in this one, Aldous. It might not pass muster as a representation of the architect's vision, but as a stand-alone interpretation by Aldous Lau it is a very interesting image.
