Well, I decided on "Apartments" as a companion series which will live side-by-side on the world's bookshelf with my much celebrated "Bungalows" series.
Seriously, I find the design of some of the apartment buildings very cool.
I was wondering whether I may have been influenced a little by the work of Ed Ruscha. (The Getty has an exhibition of his photos on at the moment.) The Bungalows and the Apartments series both bear similarities to his work. I don't think so, though, because I actually started dabbling in the Apartments series long before I ever heard of Ruscha. (I have photographic evidence.
) I asked my wife the other day, "Do you think Bungalows is a result of seeing Ruscha's work?" and she didn't think so either. Hard to know, though. Thanks, Pete.
