This was shot today at approx. 4.30 pm. It was shot RAW straight into the Sun and then I manipulated it with raw settings so the houses could be seen and not dark.

Your certainly getting the gist of what can be achieved ...
although there are arguably better ways to achieve this using neutral density grad filters or the software equiv...
