i went down to florida with the intent of dropping my parents off for a few days and then going to shoot some birds. i ended up leaving early before i got to the place where i'd hoped to see some owls. on thursday, i stopped by the wildlife refuge on my way home from work even though there was only about 30 minutes or so before sunset. and i ran into this guy.
it's a barred owl. not to be confused with his cousin, the northern barred owl who lives about 30 miles north and writes bad checks.
