I like the original, but worked from a jpeg. The second is from the raw file, with a bit of White Balance set to Shadow, to bring out the vibrancy of the reds. Now, for me, the first has a ghostly presence, which I quite like, but the second is certainly more striking. Can't make my mind up which I prefer. I was surprised at the difference the WB shift made.

Rob, I like where you are going with these, the second for me..............why??? a little more brightness and contrast throughout... the crop makes the image whole and I can see this on canvas and sat in any of those places that sell them..keep doing these, I think you are on to something. seriously I do..........

They have quite a different impact don't they. The more vibrant one, especially the second version, has more instant appeal. The other though is more subtle with a rather painterly feel to it and I find myself looking at it for longer. I'm sure it would be straight-forward to take the raw file that way do and for personal work I would go that way. As Kev says, the others are more 'commercial'. Very good, but different.

Ah, personal v. commercial - an ageless dilemma. Rarely do they meet, and I wonder why. Something for me to ponder while out on the bike this afternoon...
