BOAT TRIP

Took a boat trip to Fowey to see the Red Arrows which i have done in the past. Restricted myself to the three Merrill cameras knowing it would be challenging. I was correct on all front and as for capturing the planes themselves it was pretty useless. I did shoot a few shots on the trip over and back, about an hours trip each way across the bay. Took time out as well catching fish for dinner the next day.

Wonderful set Julian and the B&W ones, especially the second, are superb. In camera?
Thanks Pete. No all Raw with the B+W conversions done in Sigma Photo Pro. The early evening dull light helped a lot for these pics, but as soon as we hit 6pm and low cloud it became very dull and hard for the camera to focus. Also it was not that calm and near Fowey a decent force 5 which we had to come back through for about 45 minutes before getting into the lea of the land again, so the boat all over the place was impossible to hold the camera still at all. I made the mistake of going with the intention of colour pics , where you do not really want to shoot above iso 320. I aught to have gone with the intention of B+W and could have shot with much higher iso 1600/ 2000.
Live and learn.

Fine series, Julian. Looks like a collision is about to happen in the last. Love the strong look in the woman's face, second from last.

Thank you Rob. Yes my sister and her daughter Rhona full of purpose, maybe the look is the result of being married to a Scotsman. In fact I have just realised there were nine on board the boat and only two of us without Scot's blood. Yes the planes do come incredibly close to each other. Sadly as mentioned the Merrill's could not keep up.

Thank you for a very interesting story Julian and a great set of pictures. The first is very telling and the second is supreme. I'd like to ad that the others are fine as well and that you restricted yourself to only three Merrills is admirable;). I have more or less done the same with two Fujis and one Pentax, but restricted, well......Colours in the first one is to me, as you would nod to I'm sure, just the right thing as women are more colourful than men, in Cornwall at least.
