Great comp., Pete. The framing of the bridge by the trees is perfect. What's the history behind the bridge? Some Cold War espionage? Or are you referring to the trees spying on the bridge??
Actually the reference is to the recent film about a real-life spy exchange that took place during the Cold War. This is a view of Glienicke Brücke from Park Babelsberg, the very bridge that the spy exchanges took place on. To the right was West Berlin, to the left Potsdam and the GDR (as was Babelsberg). The bridge was used in the film and quite a bit of the filming and post-production was done at Studio Babelsberg.
Ok not long been up so that is my excuse. I took the four bridge pillars to be the spies, as I'd imagine they'd be hiding
Fine shot Pete and like the story, we thought it was a tense world back then, lets roll back and start again.
They are all scans of the B&W prints he used for an exhibition about 15 years ago. I have edited a few of them for him and on modern materials there are very impressive indeed.
The photographer was Reinhard Füssel. I find them particularly interesting as they show the wall from the East German side and mainly from around Potsdam rather than Berlin.
