Bridge over the wall

That's great one, can't beat a bit of stained concrete, such a lovely texture :-)

wonderfully sharp and crisp, love the comp. and textures too. especially love where the concrete ramp intersects with the stairs, and the inclusion of the sign is a nice touch. i'd be tempted to crop off the sky at the top (or clone it out).

I did crop it out, but changed my mind ... You might have changed it again.
this was the full frame, it wasn't in the VF which isn't 100% ... So dunno ...

I really really like this urban grittyness.

(Before i moved to london i said to myself i would find places resembling this to photograph).

Here is the un-pp'ed but cropped better version ...

Thanks Ahmad, the camera seems to suit this sort of thing for me ... dunno why ... simplicity of it all I think?

So what happened Ahmad, did you/have you taken more of this sort of thing?

... cor the untouched is much better ... dont know why I did that ... ???

... you can even read the sign properly ...

... it was just clarity and blacks Brian

When i was at my folks new year, had a look in the garage was chuffed to find i still had my Canon s30 (2001, 1/8" 3MP, f2.8, iso800). It's got a useful liveview which changes accordingly with aperture & shutter.
I also found my rarely used film p&s Pentax Espio Mini (aka UC1) 32mm f3.5. An unheralded quite well regarded camera, not as well regarded as Yashica T4, T5.

Thats great news ... so you are back in action then??

Ive looked at the espio mini a few times recently ... as part of my compact film neurosis :)

Ah, City Walls footbridge!
I've been up them steps so many times but never seen this as a potential shot!
BRILLIANT!!
You know I'll be thinking about this shot the next time I walk up these stairs..... Wishing I'd of taken it.
DARN YOU!! :)

:D i hope to venture out to london's underpasses & similar at night.
The espio i has decent metering one of the reasons i got it.

Ahmad, I shall very much look forward to the outcome!

Cheers Dan! ... Take it again ... Im going to ... I want someone on the steps!

The second one appears softer to my eye, Hamish, and I like that look better. I wonder if it's just the size difference that is causing an illusion of softness vs. crispness?

Really this is it for me when it comes to digital versus film. I see so many great digital shots but, for me personally, so often they are too crisp, too clean,...perhaps too clinically-correct in every aspect even in poor light. I think I want images to reflect more of what I remember and less of what I actually saw,...if that makes sense. Again,...this is a personal thing and not intended to disparage digital shooters in any way. (Why, some of my best friends shoot digital!)

haha!
I get it completely Brian ... I'm just fickle ... Sometimes I like film I think for all the reasons you do, some times i like digital for all the reasons you dont ... for me, I just feel its about best medium for subject/situation/etc ...

I know the sentiment........... I was born there.
