I always just loved the feel of this yes it could ave been cropped down to just the boat but I always felt the mist in the background helped make the shot

I'll have to go along with Chris and say I like the original best. The mist on the water, having the boat tied up and o people around make for a dreamy type photo. Very nice composition IMHO.

It was taken early morning always the best time for canal shots in my humble opinion before boats move and while there is just me and the dog on the towpath

I prefer the second version, the crop cuts out the highlight top left ... but the the mist in the distance is nice!
Maybe a wide crop?
In fact im surprised Chris didnt suggest it??
