Canon x2 Extender / Teleconverter

Around 12 months back i sold my canon 100-400mm L lens as i simply didn't use it enough to have it sat in my bag, making it heavier to carry around just in case i may have needed it, so it spent most its life sat in the bottom of my wardrobe

My favourite lens is my beloved 70-200mm F2.8 IS L lens, i promised myself i would buy a x2 teleconverter to use with this lens which i can have in my bag just in case i needed more reach. The advantage would be this is much smaller & lighter to fit in my bag and to add to my 200mm lens if & when required.

So this lens with the Canon Extender EF 2X would become 140-400mm F5.6 IS L lens in theory. Image quality shouldn't alter a great deal i believe

so my question is does anyone use this or similar combo with a x2 teleconverter & what are your thoughts on the IQ with the converter attached.

no, but i've used a 2x teleconverter with the 100-400mm L... works well enough for that combo so long as you have a tripod.
