civil war portraits

Well for a self-aclaimed non-portraitist, these are pretty damned fine I'd say. There's always a temptation to render such images in faded sepia but I'm glad you resisted! The only thing I might change would be to crop a bit off the top of the first - I find myself looking at the top of the flag rather than into his eyes which is a shame as he's engaged with the camera.
 
thanks pete. i agree with cropping off the top of the first. unfortunately his face is a little out of focus on that one. he was joking around with the girl in #4 who was on her horse behind me.

in #4 she was trying to fix her jammed revolver on a slightly jumpy horse. it unjammed, loudly, hilarity ensued.
