I have nothing against the image Dave and I really like the composition and tones and you have caught a nice bit of, not quite tension, but you know what I mean. It just feels a touch intrusive to me. Not overtly so but enough for me to question why you took it. It's not that I don't take shots like this, I do. But they are usually at social events associated with the various meetings I attend and I usually only share them with those that were present. It is, however, a documentary shot of the way business is sometimes conducted these days but would I be happy if one of the people in it was me talking with one of my customers? Not sure. Always tricky I guess, just like street photography. If only these things were black and white Eh? Oh, it is, damn!
Social documentary is what stuff like this is about for me. I realise some people don't like it - but the way I see it - we live our lives on camera these days - you can't walk down a high street without being on at least one. I don't have any problems documenting today's society in a candid way - the only thing I object to is when people use it to mock, insult or otherwise denigrate the subject.
Lots of people enjoy looking at everyday street photos from bygone times. However, it amazes me how many of them object to us documenting today's world in the same way
I like the composition & subject of this shot to be honest, not sure about big noise, that never does it for me, i guess its a personal thing. That chair is also kinda annoying in foreground to
Thanks for the comments Lots of people enjoy looking at everyday street photos from bygone times. However, it amazes me how many of them object to us documenting today's world in the same way
That's why I always feel there is such a dilemma. I would hate that we have no record of the everyday for the future (mind there are potentially many more images now that in the past - assuming all the hard drives they are saved on don't fail!). And I agree with your exclusions - I suspect I am often too sensitive about these things.
I think that sometimes we are blaze about the interesting things all around us as they become common place and we get saturated. I believe that this photograph like so many other good photographs lose their value as a result, hence the lack of comments.
