Critique Welcomed Couple more from Callaway

Hi Bob. I'm curious about that circular thing in the first. It looks like it has snow on top, yet it seems sunny outside. What is it?

These are all great, and make me want to visit. If I do, I'm going to fashion some sepia goggles - perfect!

Yes, a bale of cotton standing on-end. Cotton, beef, and corn were the main agricultural products.

Back-story: waiting for the docent to lead her tour group to those buildings to unlock them, she mentioned the family shipped cotton to England during the Civil War. A portion of each sale was retained and invested in England to shield the money for later use. Hence the family had reserves to sustain the plantation after the war - many others lacked that foresight and lost everything to infamous "carpetbaggers" from the north.

Thank you, and happy you enjoyed the set.

I really like them all and find them both informative and excellently executed and the second to last brings back certain memories. May I ask you, is that an old school house?

Ivar,

Yes, circa 1871, one-room school house. I'll dig out some of the interiors of it and post later - other than out buildings, only structure they allowed me to photograph the interior. Probably won't get to them until later this evening.
