Curved Pods

The wonderful seedpods of this, I assume, Robinia caught my eye at the weekend and I decided that the would serve as a good subject to play with Nik's Duplex filter. I decided to take a sligtly different route though.

Leica M9 + Leica 35mm Summilux M 1:1.4. ISO 160, 1/500 at f1:2.8. PP in LR and Nik ColorFX.

Interesting, isn't it, this Duplex thing. Love this image. What do you think the filter has brought to the image?

Well the superb thing it did was to remap the green for the main brown you see in the image and, with a minor adjustment, I could get a monocrome look to match the natural tones of the pods. The filter also, with a minor tweak, blew the sky out and made the, already out of focus trees, into abstract shapes. I then just needed to adjust the crop to give a more pleasing pattern.

Thanks Brian. At first I thought I had undercooked the depth of field but once I started to work with the image it seemed to be about right after all.
