Da Da! At Last!

I will...miserable weather outside, though...but I am heading out for lunch at the Botanics with Rhona....black and white film at the Botanics....no colour left.

Oh, sorry, yes it is! Almost too quiet: did that take a shot? Got to watch the counter.

It feels great to hold, and the viewfinder is wonderful - very clear and informative. I've just taken four shots indoors, and used the flash for one. I might finish a complete roll today in around the botanics, and get it developed at Boots, just to check it is all working as it should, despite the poor weather and dull light.

Right, I'm off...

PS do we have an RPF app for mobiles?

I don't know about that, Brian. I was in such a rush to get through the first roll, and get it into Boots on a busy Saturday afternoon, that I kept forgetting to take the bloody lens cap off! Doh! Double Doh! Just got home...if there is anything worthwhile, I'll post it here soon.

Here we go. Let me know your considered thoughts. No editing other than size. Ilford XP2 Super 400, developed in Boots - one hour service (so, they could have been better). All on P program - auto exposure, really. I just wanted to check the camera worked. Seems to! Very, very dull day in Edinburgh. The sky is overblown, I'm afraid...Lots of detail, though.

Sorry I didn't take more time over the shots, but they're not bad, all things considering. Now I know it works, I'll spend some time learning to operate it more finely. But it is great in the hands, and the viewfinder is superb. This film is very contrasty, suitable for some shots, less so for others.

Your thoughts, ladies and gentlemen, and Hamish :) ?

Looking good Rob. Quite contrasty as you say but the exposures look good. It made a nice job of the head indoors and the lampshade. I like the reflections of the setts and your 'usual' view is very nicely rendered. But my favourite photograph is the last one, maybe in part because of the softer tones. All-in-all though, looking good (even if the camera should be in the Atacama desert by now!). :)

I'm a big fan of xp2 so I'm not afraid of a bit of contrast ... And to my eye, these look really bloody good!

I was just saying the other day, sometimes it's good to rush a roll, it forces you to look harder for photos... You seem to have found quite a few gooduns there!

I'd be very pleased if I were you, and until you decide to sell it to me, I think you are on to a winner here Rob!

Cheers, Hamish. I thought you might like it :) I also had my teenage daughter laughing at the faces I was making while peering into the viewfinder o_O Kind of off putting!
