End of an Alder

Taken on Boxing Day, these are the wood chips laying on the ground where they are clearing the Alders from the fen at Greywell. When felled this wood takes on a bright orange colour, here seen contrasted against the dark soil of the fen.

Lovely picture of a sad ending. I'm no tree-hugger per se, but I hate to see a tree felled, unless it poses a danger to passers-by or something. However, I love the colors in this. That orange wood fairly jumps right out. Very nice Pete!

Nicely observed Pete - and quite an amazing colour

Very nice take.
This is so a 'Pete' shot! love it! :)
