I regularly receive emails containing things like
"Last week, over on the main EPUK email discussion list, we discussed...
* Different types of Alamy contracts.
* The power of Trading Standards.
* Can you persuade a poverty pleading client to spend more money?
* Corbis buys Demotix.
* The Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Bill.
* How to evidence & prove copyright infringements.
* Is it worth joining the Federation of Small Business?
* When does an infringement become a criminal act?
* Should you agree to a a non-disclosure clause?
* When does copyright expire?"
all of which is exactly what I need to know, but looking at their requirements for membership (haven't done any editorial work in the UK market for maybe 20 years) doubt I would qualify. I'm loathe to go the route that some of my peers have ie producing features specificly to be used with no remuneration, simply to get publicity (and become eligible). Is there an ethically correct shortcut?
