Calla Lily Explorations of the Theme

This shot was taken at the same as the one that was converted to a monochrome but has been left as shot. I was interested in the curve at the top of the flower and have produced a crop as a way of exploring the idea of a more abstract close-up. All settings, lighting etc was as in the mono shot and I have included the original that it was produced from as a comparison. The only thing that has been done is a crop to square format and a border added in Nik ColorFX Pro 4.

All good stuff, Pete. We have very similar Calla lilies! I enjoy trying to see how they green slowly transforms into the reds. Your first shot here is very beautiful. That is a nice lens.

Very nice pictures Pete! I find the way how the "trunk"? seems to disappear in the first image, the colours are perfect and the shard focus on the edge and soft focus everywhere else.

Thanks, Martin. That first flower does have a rather thick stem so I minimised the light falling on it but still got some bouncing back - I should have put a flag in the way.
