Ha, brilliant. Half a second earlier, and she would have been in the perfect position, at least for the tribute. But by being a pace further along you have caught her shadow beautifully. Wish I’d taken this one!

I can well imagine you did! It might be worth going there again if you can see that shadow again, and ask a friend to stand in the corner looking at a mobile phone - a contemporary slant on the original image. For those who don’t know the reference, check out the amazing images by Fan Ho. It won’t take long to see the context of Chris’s image.

Oh, you can be sure that's a shadow I'm going to be chasing in the future, Rob!
I would consider setting up a shot like that cheating, if I didn't know that the original was posed and the shadow was added in the darkroom. None of that reduces the impact of 'Approaching Shadow', which must surely be one of the best photographs ever taken.

Interesting how I feel it lessens it a little, yet a big part of me thinks "why not?". He was an artist, creating an artistic image. We tend to decry photoshopping these days (at least I do) yet they were getting up to all sorts of tricks in the darkroom in the old days.

Anyway, I love your photo. It's a cracker!
