Hi everyone,

I have a question about the above mentioned lens. Basically I got it out of the case yesterday and for some reason the auto focus motor has got really noisy. Has anyone ever had this problem? Does this mean the end of my beloved nifty fifty? Does anyone know a simple fix for this?

Any help would be great.

My friend has a canon 50mm and I'm sure it's as noisy (grinding sound). I'll ask him what he's done with it.

if it isn't usually noisy, mmmmm maybe its has got some dust or foreign objects inside the lens workings which is NEVER a good thing.

I used have the nifty fifty and i hated it, it was soooooo soft, i got rid of it, i also remember that it had very noisy AF

when was it you bought it... i cant remember if it was last time you came up or the time before ... i think LCE have 6 moth warranties on s/h! which even if it was the time before last, being as that was just after connie was born and she isnt quite 6 months, it will still be within its warranty!

Unfortunately I got it when we were on honeymoon so would have been about 9months ago. Shame really, I don't get any noise when shooting manual only when using auto. Think the motor might be on its way out. May have to eBay it before it gets too bad and sell some other stuff to upgrade to the 1.4

that's right everyone! Ben and his wife spent their honeymoon visiting me and Hannah! THAT is how ace I am!!! (not entirely true ;) )

hmm, bit of a gutter then really!
ebay then... how much do the 1.4's go for?

Ha ha. Well generally around £200 so might have to sell a few of my lenses and may be a couple of film bodies to cover it. Had a sort through of my camera's, up to 15 now so could probably do with shedding some weight.
