Ok so I had a pro account through my bt account until the other day, I had a notification that I needed to change my log in to a yahoo login and now I have had notificarion that my pro account is due to expire,
Any other UK bt users had similar?

I used to only be able to post to 10 groups for any one picture because I didn't have a pro account (and wasn't going to get one either). I was a bit envious that BT subscribers in UK got a complimentary pro account. However, I guess it was about the time Flickr went to the new layout Beth mentioned that they gave everyone more storage space. So now I am still not a pro account member, but I seem to be able to post a picture to as many groups as I like.

Perhaps the pro account just gets you access to statistical stuff now?

Not similar Kev but this is my experience.

I am on Bt but had a flickr account prior to that. I had a free account for years then a couple of years ago went pro. Flickr originally were not going to allow people to keep their pro accounts, they would revert to a 1TB fee account.
The response became so negative for Flickr they back tracked and were then allowing those existing pro accounts to still keep them. I have extended mine for a further two years, as of April this year.

You mention the free account via BT. I have read a few forum debates on this change and many say they had problems keeping their pro account.
If you go into your profile it aught to have your account details somewhere. In there I was offered the opportunity to extend my pro account. I believe some of the BT free pro accounts did not have this option, which was their gripe.
Not sure if Flickr have changed this.

Are not BT Yahoo and Flickr? I think so, as when I took BT broad band they gave me a yahoo e-mail. Who knows who is what any more

Yes that is correct Brian. The pro account does give you access to all the stats. It is also AD free.

I thought they were both the same now, I have emailed flickr to find out whats going on, I shall bin it if they dont restore and go else where

Kev what are both the same? Pro and free account? The free account is different. It has ads. The stats are not available, if that matters .

Pro accounts are no longer available, so if the advantages are liked it is best to keep it. I've kept mine as it is about the cheapest paid account going as far as I could see. Flickr is a good host as far as the images stay looking decent.

Members do appear to have a lot of clout, and have changed decisions made in the past by Flickr, such as pro subscribers being allowed to keep their pro accounts. They are taking a lot on board about the new layout being designed also.
Time will tell though. Probably as I'm a cheap skate I was not prepared to pay more and I do not need the sell options either other hosting sites give..

Bt and yahoo, I know the differences between flickr accounts, I just had a notification telling me I couldnt log in in future on my existing account which was a bt id via yahoo and I had to change my id to a yahoo account, hence why am confused.
the flickr pro account was a free pro account because I had a bt address, and alhough I still have the same bt address flickr hace told me to change to a yahoo address, yahoo and bt are the same which begs why the need to change, other thanto force me to purchase a pro accoumt, which isnt going to happen

Yes sorry Kev it was a bit rhetorical , my post if anything.
Yes it is to make you either have a pro account or a free one. Trouble being with a lot of these contract laws of data, is that they can be changed by the suppler at anytime, often whatever contract you sign. Bt did give the Flickr pro account to their users in the past. Like phone contracts they are not worth the paper as far as what you sign up to as far as cost goes. They can Hike it at any time whatever you sign. Something a bit unique to phone contracts and Phone untilities.
These companies never give anything for free unless they have the right to pull that freebie. Bt customers can watch BT sport for free online, which I do, but they can and I suspect will charge when they have pulled in enough users.
The free account is good enough and an AD blocker would make it the same as pro account only minus the stats data.

From BT site
  1. You need to change the log in credentials you use to access your Flickr account.
  2. Once you have changed these, you can continue to use the service as normal using your new log in credentials.
  3. If you don't want to use Flickr anymore, but you want to keep your photos, you will need to download and save them now.
If you don't use Flickr or don't use your BT Yahoo email address to log in to Flickr, you don't need to do anything.
