This doesn't exactly show our garden in a good light, but it's hardly been the weather for it and besides... we have half an acre as well as two acres of fields. The truth is that we can't cope any more, but the wildlife is thriving. We've fed pretty much everything since moving in over 15 years ago and it's fair to say some of them are stupidly tame.
We have:
Fallow deer, badgers, stoats, weasels, rabbits, moles, frogs, toads, lizards, snakes, owls (lots of hooting), a honey buzzard, sparrow hawk, woodpeckers (both green and spotted), rats (sore point there, they have to be controlled, but we hate doing it - I have a lot of respect for rats), mice (including silly tame wood mice), pheasants, red-legged partridge, one lone coot for a few years, two resident crows (Pinky and Perky) and the usual magpies, pigeons, collard doves, assorted **** (that's probably going to be bleeped out), loads of robins and swallows nesting in the field shelter.
Now I only have the one lens, no hide and to be honest, no time for patience. I do like to record the wildlife though, so when the opportunity arises, I grab my camera and do my best. This was taken this morning while I should have been cleaning litter trays. Sadly one of our cats has done for most of the baby rabbits, but three huge adults remain. Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail. They are getting stupidly daring - I once opened the back door and literally fell over one that had come to drink from the cats' water bowl...
We went out in the garden one morning last week to see to the llamas, pig and chickens to find a cow on the lawn
