Trinity College Church, (site of Waverley Station today)

"Taken in the mid 1840's, it shows Trinity College Church. Today this site is part of Waverley railway station. In those days Trinity Church was was situated off Leith Wynd which ran from Calton Road straight to the High Street. In the background is the old Calton Jail. Mary of Gueldres founded Trinity College and Hospital in memory of her late husband, King James II of Scotland in 1460. In 1845 the hospital was still in use. The church was demolished 1848 to make way for an extension to Waverley Station with the understanding that it would be reconstructed on another spot. It never was, however marked stones from the original church were incorporated into the walls of the building which is now the Brass Rubbing Centre. This really is Lost (and found) Edinburgh indeed!"

I'd have to stand on top of the glass roof of the train station - not something I really want to do! Love that deep reddish0brown colour, though.
