I Hear A Train A-Comin'

The corner of D and McFarland Streets in Wilmington. Took this picture out the window of my car as I waited for the behemoth to pass. It is heading toward the port--about a quarter mile to the right of where I took this picture.

Olympus XA3 and expired Kodak Gold 200 film.

Well, for one thing, he forgot to observe that stop sign there! ;) On the other hand, he didn't forget to blast his horn mightily to alert myself and the several pit bulls on adjacent streets that he was a-comin through! Thanks for the comments, Pete.

Much appreciated, Pete. Thank you.

Very nice shot, Brian! I like how you've composed/framed the image & also the perspective shows the size of this beast!! Lovely shot that would probably be of great interest to the spotters also!

I wonder what HP it is! I'd love ago on a big engine like this!

Thanks very much, Alfie. I'd LOVE to drive a train!

Also, your question about the HP prompted me to seek the wisdom of the Google and I have found out a wee bit. I found out that the obscured letter following "BNS" on the front and side of the engine is "F" and "BNSF" stands for "Burlington Northern Santa Fe" Railway. On their website BNSF show that each engine produces 4400 HP. Thanks again, Alfie.

Very interesting, Brian!

4400hp WOW I'd love to drive that! The ones I drive tend to be 2 or 3 cars & are more like buses on rails with a lorry engine in each. But all that HP is something totally different & a lot more thought about gradients is needed to drive these even as light loco's! Imagine what it's like with 100's or 1000's of tons of freight on the back!!!

Great info! adds to the great image for me! Thanks, Brian.
