I know nothing about the man who chose to drive his car over the cliff, other than what I heard on the BBC news. I still felt moved to bow my head and say a few words to my chosen deity on behalf of the poor soul. So sad.

Yes, he chose to take his own life. According to the TV news he left a note. The only access to the site is on foot; no obvious way of landing a boat on the rocks. Moving the car would be a major problem. Not that many people do the walk, so I guess it is not a high priority.
