Great shot. Thought it was taken with the Merril until I looked at the camera name. That's a really nice camera and lens combo.

Thanks John. Yes a lovely camera and had a lot of enjoyment. I can contend with the camera and a 5omm lens. I cannot walk and use two crutches so, this outfit and lovely lenses hardly get used. I'd like to add the Sigma 24 or 35mm arts but they are brutes as far as size goes for a 50mm. Now it is a wee shoulder bag with three Merrill's which do well. The days I consume vast amounts of steroids I can just manage the Canon.

I've got the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Art. It's my sharpest lens. Even sharper than my Tokina 100mm macro. It weighs around 800g. I wish I had gotten the 35mm art prime instead, because I rarely use the zoom as a zoom. I find that I shoot it at 35mm almost exclusively.

Interesting to hear John. I am not so keen on Zooms. Not for performance as many are superb, I enjoy the restrictions of a prime. Though I was very interested in the sigma 24-35 f2 and have meant to keep an eye on the reviews. The 18-25 of course is I believe Aps-c. . Many said the 24-35mm was odd focal lengths for a zoom, but I see it as almost perfect for FF and possibly not too much compromise. But a f1.4 prime is always nice as in the 35mm Art, not for low light, simply for extra shallow depth, which I like to play with at times..

Neither am I. It was a tough call between the two and, now that I've used it a bit, I think I made the wrong call. I only have one other zoom and I have that only for when I really need the versatility of a zoom, which in the last six months is not at all. My favorite lens is a fast 50mm (35mm on the aps-c).

Yes a zoom can be useful at times and yes would love a decent very fast 50 or 35 or 24. The canons as you know are expensive hence the Sigma's would be my only option. If I started out again buying I know I'd make very different choices from say twenty years ago. One of the downsides of digital was the APs-c sensor and manufacturers produced Aps-c lenses which become redundant if you move to the larger sensor, which has happened to a lot of photographers without the means to jump into the first full frame digital's at the prices they were.
