..... So I'm looking for a decent user friendly video software that I can add, cut, edit, clips, add frames and put a sound track over it of my own choice and something that offers me flexibility!
I'm not looking for the dogs dinner of software that's going to cost me a bomb, and as I have no idea what video/movie creating softwares there are out there... Im sure it'd be wrong for me to ask if the free ones would be any good?! Unless I'm corrected. :)

I keep seeing alot of video potentials and it's dramatically raising my interest in video creation :)

Any advice on this would be great folks :)

I use Vegas Movie Studio - not free, but very good. Nothing you mentioned can't be done with WMM Windows Movie Maker, which is free, except it can't do HD videos - that is why I bought Vegas Movie Studio. But that was last year, so maybe WMM can now do HD videos.

Thanks guys... I'll look into them and see what spec they contain... thanks again :)

WMM Windows Movie Maker defo worth a look for free and defo does everything and more that you will need .........for now :-)

Long time user of Vegas Movie Studio—over many versions. No eye-candy—all business, just drag and drop on timelines. Minimal learning curve, but all dialogues have Help buttons just in case. Does great slide shows as well and will output them to DVD to show on any player. It can also be used for audio recording and multi-track editing. Will accept content in a wide variety of formats and output the same. Output to hard-drive, DVD, and even directly to YouTube.

The difference between the Studio and the Pro version is interfacing with high-end hardware and unlimited tracks. Of no consequence unless you are running a production house. There are trial versions that can be downloaded.

Sony bought out Sonic Foundry—an excellent software company—a few years back and apparently kept the staff intact, supplying capital for greater R&D and marketing. The products have grown in excellence. There is quite a range of products, most in Studio and Pro versions. They all share the same basic interface, so learning curve is very low. SoundForge is a superb audio editing and mastering application. Acid Music is a loop-based music and sound-track creation tool. There are CD and DVD authoring programs. All my strange, experimental YouTube movies were done with this software—much of it based upon animation ideas.
