Yesterday my M42 to EOS adapter arrived. (Thank you @Hamish Gill!
)
It was already dark but I tried grabbing a few images using the Canon 7D and a pair of M42 lenses I have:
Although I knew that AF was not possible using the adapter (and these lenses are not AF in any case) a couple of things surprised me a little. It never occurred to me that the LED display would not register the selected aperture. I should have realized that. I guess I just didn't think about it. More importantly, however, at least for a myopic fellow such as myself, focus must be achieved without the aid of a double image to align or a little fresnel patch to smooth.
Anyway, here are a couple of shots. I used a wide open aperture in both cases.
Mamiya-Sekor 55/1.4

Helios (44-4) 58/2
