Is Anyone Shooting Video? With A Nikon Dslr?

picture quality is amazing! the sound quality is diabolical! Even with an external mic ... We are looking a getting a zoom h4n at the mo so we can actually offer a bit of basic video with half decent audio!

Yes, I agree with Hamish's comments. We use a Zoom recorder. However, we now use a dedicated video recorder (µ4/3) with a Nikon mount (Panasonic AG-AF 101 but may switch to a Sony NEX-FS700 at the end of the year to give us the very high frame rates that has). You'll need a bit of extra kit to enable you to film smoothly though.

Hhhmmm, this thread will be interesting to myself as I also have been approached about videography for a wedding. I wouldn't know where to start. I don't think I will do it either. But interesting this thread will be out of curiosity.

I asked a friend of mine who is an independent film maker - he shot the Alison Lapper documentary series for (I think) CH4. He's currently using a Panasonic GF2, I think. Which is by no means an extravagant investment. But having all the lenses for Nikon already, it may make more sense to 'stay in the fold'. Might still persevere with the wife's p&s JVC HD camcorder though....it does have a few overrides for exposure etc, though these are buried deep in menus.

The D7000 is kind of in my sights, although while researching cameras for a student, I also discovered the D5100, which seems like a bargain, considering its capabilities. Am I wrong?
