John Hocking

Thank you Rob, a small snippet of a November days activity in a Cornish fishing village.
A wonderful snippet, I'd say Julian! First, the perspective is so unusual. Secondly, quite simply they are well-shot images and I echo what Rob has said. Finally, a working man--and I mean physically working--in his 8th decade is marvelous.

Excellent Julian. And next time you talk to John Hocking tell him he is my new hero! :)

Wonderful shots Julian. That first is just perfect...IMHO. Someone in his 8th century doing this is incredible and usually fun to watch and learn from.

Thank you Brian and I will. He was always a character who would work single handed and very much do his own thing, on days when the strong wind was up the fishermen gathered prior to sunrise to see who would go out to sea,
John would wonder on to the quay, walk pass the gathered fishermen and get on his boat and go out, almost whatever the weather. Of course most would follow not wishing to to see another's boat come in with a good catch, even if they decided to turn back after opening up the headland to the prevailing south western approaches and the seas that are at times quite scary. .

Wow that makes him almost as old as Dr Who!

The whole set is good but the first image is great on so many levels. There is a sense of frailty from the hair and the hunched shoulders but also a sense of strength and determination from the steadfast hands and feet.
Yep I liked the first, the other two were added to show the journey, and to give the context of environment and the purpose. If that makes sense. .
